The importance of understanding who YOU are (in business)

by Davina Schonle | Jul 1, 2021 | Business

So this week we wanted to talk about the importance of fully understanding what your business offers, what are your business values, what does your business want to achieve?

Understanding who YOU are is one of the most important things, especially when talking about your values. If you are talking to or working with a company that does not share your values then you won’t be able to achieve what you want to achieve. You will be out of alignment. You may subconsciously sabotage a deal you are working on. Achieving what you set out to achieve is essential to keep you motivated to do the best you can for your business – and ultimately make it succeed.

And everything starts with clarity. Clarity around what you are good at…. what you want… what you are doing it for.

So what questions should you be asking yourself to get that clarity on your business?

  • What are your credentials?
  • What are you an expert in?
  • Who have you worked with previously?
  • Who do you want to work with?
  • What are your values?
  • What do you enjoy?
  • What lifestyle do you want in 3 years time?
  • What is your WHY?
  • Who are you doing this for?
  • And most importantly… what makes your heart sing?

By understanding this, you can determine what type of company, what type of business, what type of work YOU want to do and WHO with.

Try it today – take this bullet point list and write down your answer to these questions.  Does this match with the type of customers you have and are targeting?  If not you may want to reassess who your target market really is.  Let us know how you get on through our social channels.
